Initial thought of Cal Poly

A year ago last Monday was the first day of one of the most amazing experiences of my life. My time spent at Cal Poly so far has been something along the lines of indescribable. As a sophomore, I can say that the long nights of studying and early mornings filled with coffee are beyond worth it. We must all be extremely thankful that we are able to be students at this university.
Coming into a college like Cal Poly from a high school with barely 600 students was a huge change. My high school had me convinced that I was ready for this big leap, for which I actually wasn't. The first few weeks of school were difficult; I struggled getting into the swing of things. The 10 week quarters and the difference in teaching was all new, but I had to adjust.
A whole year later, I can tell you that the students, professors, and advisors here at Cal Poly made the transition enjoyable, and gave me the confidence that I needed to be successful. I have learned so much in the past year, and continue to learn more each and every day. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to attend such a great school, and can't wait to see what the future has in store.

Happy trails,
Shyan
